#PrkBukitGelugor: @Huan2u Janjikan Kutipan Dana RM5juta Jika Terpilih Sebagai MP #BukitGelugor


Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) vice-president Datuk Huan Cheng Guan has promised to raise a RM5 million fund for the SJKC Chiao Nan expansion project if he wins the Bukit Gelugor by-election.

He said he needed to be elected member of parliament (MP) in order to have the authority to raise funds for the school.

“I’m confident that I will be able to raise the RM5 million cost, three months after I am elected MP,” he told reporters after visiting the school here today.

He said the fund was needed for the school to continue with phase two of the development project which included rebuilding the school’s current building.

Huan is involved in a four-corner fight in the Bukit Gelugor by-election on May 25. The contestants are DAP candidate Ramkarpal Singh Deo and two independents Abu Backer Sidek Mohammad Zan and Mohamed Nabi Bux Mohd Nabi Abdul Sathar.

He said the school needed a bigger building to accommodate with the increase in students and he was ready to help.

“Not only Chinese school, I’m ready to help any school, including Malay and Indian which is in need of funds to develop a better student environment for their students,” he added.

Meanwhile, school headmaster Chew Eng Hock said the project to expand the school had started early last year and phase one which cost about RM5 million was expected to be completed by middle of next year.

He said the cost of phase one was raised through the school board committee and the parent-teacher association.

“We plan to move into the new building by end of 2015, and phase two of the project is aimed at developing the old building, which includes a basketball court,” said Chew.

The school has about 400 students in two sessions, and is currently occupying half of the 1.6 hectare land in Jalan Thean Teik. — Bernama
